It is time to merge the African, Caribbean, and Latino communities for a celebration of culture! Whether you love afrobeats or soca, reggaeton or dancehall, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Culture Fest.
CultureFest is a celebration of ethnic diversity by bringing together different cultures through food, fashion, arts, dance, music and more!
This past Friday, we had a great time at the CultureFest DMV Launch Party where media was hosted to inform us of the highly anticipated event. We heard from event co-founders Lawrence Cox and Freka Scoot on the purpose of CultureFest.
“This is not just a party but it is also an opportunity to get ‘an education on other cultures’ in a fun and engaging way”, Lawrence Cox explains. As a spin-off of the popular Jerk Festival, CultureFest “seeks to broaden our reach and bring unity to the communities of the diaspora. We love our cultures. We love the melanin in our skin. We love community in general. We just want to bring families and communities together for a good time” said Freka Scott.
DC NOW Events is proud to be a sponsor of CultureFest. We hope to see you there on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the National Harbor. We’ll be enjoying soca sounds from Patrice Roberts, dancehall vibes by Tanto Metro & Devonte and much more!
