The magic of music cannot be denied. Music has always had a tremendous effect on people in general. You can’t deny how music takes you to another dimension. You will love to be part of this annual music festival founded by music lovers.
The DC Funk Parade is The MusicianShip’s annual celebration of Washington DC’s iconic U. Street Corridor, also known as “Black Broadway. Take a look back at the 2021 DC Funk Parade.
This festival is a Funk parade that will bring musical genres such as Go-Go, Pop, Soul, Rock & Rap/Hip-Hop that were born from Jazz. Even though they were born of Jazz, they are powered by Funk. From communities inspired by legends such as the great Duke Ellington, Pearl Bailey, Chuck Brown, and Billie Holiday, the creative cultural event features music, dance and visual arts drawing inspiration from individuals who have influenced millions through music since the early 1900s. A love letter you could call it from music lovers to music lovers.

The festival will start on April 30th, 2022 and end on May 7th, 2022. It will be a week of complete celebration and jiration. Be ready for a week like never before. But whilst you are preparing for the festival, there is a fundraising plan to raise $5k for Washington, D.C. youth music programming via The MusicianShip.


The MusicianShip is a body created to keep music alive by empowering the youth and the upcoming generation. It is your goal to support and show your solidarity. You must be wondering why the festival is tagged ” The Magic of Music”. It exemplifies the resilience and unwavering impact that music has on the historic U. St. corridor and our current times powering through the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the festival day, which is the last day, May 7th, there will be FREE music activations at three historic corridor sites: The African-American Civil War Memorial (Vermont & U. St. NW), Lee’s Flower Shop (11th & U. St. NW) & The Reeves Center (14th & U. St. NW).
