Open Gem, which was founded in 2017 by Nature Boi, was made so that artists could have a place where they could feel comfortable sharing their work without fear of retaliation. The brand’s origins can be traced back to a bar in Washington, DC, where a simple “sign up and perform” model was put into motion, which immediately began cultivating and impacting a small but mighty community.

After 5 years, Open Gem has grown into a nationwide hub for artists of all stripes. This platform has expanded week by week, month by month, and venue by venue as a result of its focus on growth, development, and the creative community.

As a result of this expansion, for this year’s event, they have teamed up with organizations like Songbyrd DC, Funk Parade DC, the DC Music Summit, Live Nation, and many more. Since its inception, Open Gem has visited over seven different states, increasing the reach of both the platform’s brand and the community’s creatives. At long last, the 5-Year Anniversary Party comes to a close with the Greatest Showcase of DMV Talent Ever.
