A lifetime experience with your taste bud on a whole new level

Envision entering a pitch-black restaurant and being served a sublime four-course dinner, the tastes and textures of which are amplified by the lack of light. To some degree, it sounds unbelievable, right?

The alluring “Dining In The Dark” event will be held in the Washington, DC, metro area, at Paraso Taquera y Mezcalera on Capitol Hill and Ambar Clarendon in Arlington. This is an experience that psychologists have endorsed as an “amplified” way to enjoy food.

This Dining In The Dark Experience Is Taking D.C. By Storm

Enjoy a four-course meal at Paraso Taquera y Mezcalera or Ambar Clarendon in complete darkness and “elevate your meal to a whole new level,” as the event’s promotional materials put it. Wow, that’s quite exciting.

All the guests will be given blindfolds (disposable for their safety) to aid in sensory amplification and prevent them from sneaking peeks at their food. To prevent guests from stumbling into anything, a “guide” will lead them inside the space before turning out the lights.

Events will occur on various dates between 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (select during purchase). Paraso Taquera y Mezcalera is located in the same building as Ambar Clarendon. The event lasts 90 minutes (doors open 30 minutes before it begins, and latecomers will not be admitted).

Those with special dietary needs, such as food allergies, can be accommodated within reason. This location complies with American Disabilities Act standards for accessibility. You can indicate any dietary restrictions on the form that will come in your order confirmation email after you make a purchase.
